Learn to release the “issues in the tissues.”
Trauma Informed Yoga
Trauma-informed Yoga creates quieting poses and, especially, a safe environment for practitioners. The instructor will never provide hands-on adjustments without the permission of the practitioners, providing and building a sense of trust and safety. The language is inviting, and practitioners are encouraged to “find their breath.” Deep breathing stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and quiets the mind.
This is a grounding practice in which practitioners learn to tune into their bodily sensations and notice the temporary nature of them; this helps build tolerance and trust. The body begins to release the “issues in the tissues.”
Meditation and Mindfulness are offered in the Trauma-Informed classes.
This practice can be offered in group or individual settings and is appropriate for most levels of practitioner.
